Hotlanta 2000

Trip dates: July 15-16, 2000
Round trip distance: A hop and a skip... no jump needed
Tournaments: Hotlanta
Courses played Lenora, Redan

It's funny, I was mad at In-Flight because they never put results up from their tournament (well, they're up now on Disclife, a month later) and then I went and didn't say a word for week after Hotlanta.  I'll do better next year.  Promise.  (Of course, I can't promise to write any better, just to be more punctual with my spewings)

Sitting in the trailer in Daytona on the Friday before the tournament, when we were busy not playing doubles and staying out of the rain that never really came, I decided to come up with some odds on who'd win Hotlanta.  I'm not sure where they are and I don't remember exactly what they were, but I do remember Phil was the favorite, followed reasonably closely by Ryan and Scott, with a pretty good gap before whoever was next.  Which is effectively what happened (except Scott beat Ryan and Bob Lewis played well and finished higher than I thought he would).

I thought we had great weather for the weekend, I was never really that hot (although judging from the constant bitching and moaning, some people probably were) and, playing in threesomes (in the pro pool) rounds flew by.  A good time was had by...  most.

Forrest put his drive on #6 at Lenora about 20 feet to the right of the basket.  Phil put his about 10 feet in front of it.  I put mine about 275 feet in front of it.

Jay Korybski went a whole day without his toolbelt (or so I heard).

For the second year in a row the winning Advanced player would've finished way up in the cash in open, this year it was Wayne Brown who shot a 199, which would've been good for 6th in open.

Rene(e?) Gibson won the advanced women with a score that would've won the pro women's division.

I did some math and some philosophizing.

We had 62 advanced men and 30 open men.  8 amateur (adv and am2) women and 2 pro women.  I think we had a good number of out of state people in the amateur field, but for the pros it was pretty limited.  I'd like to improve that next year.
