Augusta rocked. It was beautiful, the courses were in great shape, about 2/3 of the Atlanta disc golfin' population seemed to be down there, and there was plenty of pecan pie on Saturday night. I'm pretty sure Skynyrd sang a song about those great saturday night specials you can always find at the diner. Uhmm, or something like that.
I feel compelled to say, to those of you who played Miami instead: Nyaah, nyaah.
Open paid 300%.
I think that sort of deserves its own paragraph, don't you? Everyone was really nice, even the night clerk at the motel six with the broken air conditioning and purely decorative windows. Have you ever been too hot to sleep when it was 58 degrees outside? Sheesh.
In Team Lynx news, Doug shot his typical abysmal first round (a whopping 64 at Riverview) but recovered well enough to cash, 10th/43, for the first time since grabbing last cash at Florence in, what, March? Todd shot a 60 that first round and had maybe his best finish ever, tied with 4 others at 29th (I think). Brett squeaked into the cut when his buddy missed a putt in the 3rd round but apparently had his mind on the pretty little ants crawling around everywhere threatening to carry off his bag because he shot a 62 in the 4th round to finish something like 21st. In the wimp division Ryan came out strong and was 2nd after the first day but was suffering from pecan pie deficiency on Sunday and turned in an almost am-like round in the morning. Determined to overcome his dietary handicap he put a moster 6 on the board on the first hole which he wanted me to tell you about. I'd be more than happy to describe each stroke in excruciating detail, perhaps with an illustrative photo and diagram for each (with circles and arrows a paragraph on the back of each one...), but I was not among the privelaged few to witness it. A shame, truly. His parents, at least, were there to see him birdie 2, 3, and 4 to get back to even (or, as he calls it, well, to be honest I don't remember what he called it but he didn't describe his play in loving terms). Clearly buoyed in the last ten holes by my stylin' hat he got 6 of the last 7 and brought home several shiny nickles.
In the other wills parkers category there's lots... Jeff tore up Riverview and finished tied for second with Cam (who hit a hundred dollar putt on 18). Stephen shot even the last round at Riverview to pull out of contention for the captain's chair. Rand made me proud by tying my round at riverview. Somehow. Shazaam.
