Orangevale, We Hardly Knew Ye
(Mileage 6100)

O.K., so another weekend has passed and we just finished our 3rd Supertour of the year.  The St. Patrick's Classic in Orangevale, California was the tourney and Shady Oaks was the name of our course for the weekend.  This was an interesting course with small creeks by baskets and surrounding them, wooded holes, open holes, and homey holes.  We played 4 rounds of 18 holes on what I would consider Mach I's with a second set of chains and a couple of new baskets, because of thieves.

I wish disc golfers young and old could appreciate the privilege of having these courses with baskets, usually for free to play on, yet they still insist on stealing from themselves.  If you don't have a basket then buy one, or make one, or go to your course and practice putting. Another idea is to go putt at a tree; just leave the public baskets alone. When I was growing up me and my friend Todd Brown built our own basket out of scraps lying around the yard, we were 13 years old.  That's way more creative than stealing, anybody can do that.

Anyway, back to our 4-leaf clover course which I did enjoy playing, but did have some holes that I think a lot of people thought needed some trimming, so to speak.  O.B. was the phrase of the weekend and I'm sure just about everyone got a taste of it.  Cam had an interesting experience the last round when he played a lie from an O.B. disc in a tree, laying up for his bogey, but when he knocked the disc down from the 6 story tall tree, they discovered that it wasn't his disc and that his was in the creek. Cam approached his correct lie and played it out for the 4, but received a 2 stroke penalty which turned his 47 into a 49.  Mike Loya showed up for the tourney carding a smooth 41 the first round, but couldn't hold off the cool headed Al Schack from his first Supertour victory of the year. Jim Oates finished 3rd with myself, Cam, Johnny, and Dan all tying for 4th.

Thanks to Keith for letting not just us, but many other stay at his house over the years!

After leaving Orangevale we got started on our long journey to Round Rock.  Cam drove from Orangevale to Tucson where Jim Garnett stays and also where we left the popup after the Las Vegas event. We arrived at Jim's in the early hours of the morning, thankfully Jim hid a key for us to enter with.  Wednesday morning, after packing the bearings on the popup the night before, I gave Innova a call about sponsorship and got put on the B team [Editor's note:  Congratulations, Worm!] I would like to thank Denise, Bamba and Nancy Rico, Jim G., Karen B, Mark Collicott, Bob Dodge, Keith Johnson, and Innova for all the help we experienced on the West Coast, and a special thanks to Lynx [Ed:  You're welcome...].
