Lesli on Bowling Green

We headed out for Bowling Green Thursday morning from Atlanta. We made it there just in time to play one round at Lover's Lane.  While there at the park we ran into Al and Sue and their new Winnebago.  I think it is a '95 model and it is in really nice condition.  They told us they would be camping out at Rocky Russell's house and that it would probably be OK for us to camp there as well.  So after a quick round at Lovers Lane we followed Al and Sue over to Rocky's which is only about 5 minutes from the course.  Rocky's place was really nicely equipped with a pool and ping pong table which made for some heated competition. Oh yeah, there was a trampoline, too. It was like playland out there.  Rocky's wife cooked ribs for everyone one night and spaghetti another.  The food was great and much appreciated by everyone. Special thanks to Rocky, Molly, and Ryan for taking great care of us during our stay at Bowling Green.

Friday was a big day for us.  We still had 3 courses to play before the tourney on Saturday. We started out at White Park, then Hobson Grove, and finished up at Keriakes Park.  That was a lot of golf. After our last round we headed over to the host hotel to check in. Not a lot was happening so after we checked in we headed home to rest before the tournament. Saturday we played Hobson Grove and White Park, it was really windy on Saturday at both courses.  After the rounds we went back to Rocky's, obviously no one was tired of competition because Ken Climo, John McCray, Rocky, Dave Greenwell, Al, Sue, Worm, Roadie, Myself, and a few others all played ping pong until pretty late.  Sunday we played Lovers Lane and then finished up at Keriakes with a final 9 for the top 4 in the men's and women's divisions. In the women's division it was Juliana, Sue, myself, and Sylvia Voakes, who is just as amazing as her husband Dr. Rick. Not much changed during the finals though I was only 1 stroke off 2nd. Juliana 1st, Sue 2nd, Lesli 3rd, and Sylvia 4th. After the awards ceremony everyone went to Hops Brewery for dinner.

Monday morning we hooked up with Tim Kremer and Cameron Rauenhorst to go and check out mammoth caves in Kentucky. We went on a 2 hour tour of the caves, it was really nice and so was the camping there at the state park.  We all decided to camp over night and head out for Maryland on Tuesday.
